and of Andy who tried to make the Wild West wilder . . . of (Marion who tried to lasso a buckin’ cowboy into love’s corral ... of the Judge who outsmarts six-shootin’ justice ... of laughter ... of honest tears . . . excitement . . . and fun. The associate programme includes the latest news services, a Pet : e Smith specialty, Marine Circus, a "Passing Parade,” "The story of Dr Jenner” and a colour cartoon, all-in-all, here is a M.G.M. programme that will enthuse the most blase. GREAT NORTH CHINA TROUPE. Billed as "Whirlwind Artists from the Orient,” the Great North China Troupe-CRoyal command performers—appear at St. Andrew’s Hall on Friday, December 8, for one night only. To those who have not previously had the pleasure of seeing Chinese artists at work, a very real treat is in store. It is impossible to convey in mere words the amazing feats which these talented artists perform with consummate ease, nor is it possible to describe the terrific speed at which they work. Act after act, each one more seemingly impossible than the last, is presented with a breathless rapidity which leaves one gasping. The troupe includes acrobats, balancers, contortionists, jugglers, dancers, singers, fire-eaters. A screamingly funny episode in the programme is given by Jock on a rubber ball about six feet in circumference, which he propels with his feet, most of the time feigning to fall and has the audience rocking with laughter. Another highlight is by Herbert Young, the nine years old Chinese boy soprano, who sings in perfect English, a language he acquired in Hong Kong wfien five years of age. He is rarely allowed to leave the stage without singing four solos. The plan is at Wilson's Music Store. CRADLE ROLL PARTY. A Grade Roll party was held at the Baptist Manse, Wills Street, on Thursday afternoon, when there was a good attendance of mothers and children. Mrs L, P. Bryan welcomed the mothers and gave a short appropriate message. Mrs A. McLcman (Cradle Roll superintendent) also spoke and presented, each child with a gift. Solos were sung by Mrs P. Ede, and Mrs W. Gatchell. Afternoon tea was served during the afternoon.
