BURNHAM CANTEEN.
LARGE AND SMALL “HANDLES.” CHRISTCHURCH, November 16. Within the next few days the first handle, of beer to be purchased in a South Island military camp will he handed across the counter, paid for, and consumed. Arrangements for establishing a wet canteen at Burnham are now in hand. Draught beer only will be stocked —no spirits—and prices will be, lajrge handle 6d, small handle 3d. It is intended that the canteen will be open from 6 p.m. to 9 n.m., and on account of limited accommodation units will he. admitted in turn.
