The Navy Office confirms the sinking of the Africa Shell, which apparently occuTfed’ yesterday, as a (Jivil pilot flying over the area saw the ship sinking and lifeboats on a beach nearby. Other reports say that the crew-was allowed, to land in lifeboats at Inhambahe, but the captain was taken prisoner.
Persistent rumours , that the raider was a pocket battleship are authoritatively denied. All shipping lias been warned.
