ASHBURTON LADIES’ CLUB. RESULTS OF STROKE MATCH. Mrs J. Connor, with a net score of 64, won the stroke match played by members of the Ashburton Ladies’ Golf Club yesterday. The best scores were: Mrs J. Connor 94-30-64, Miss B. Murdoch 89-23-66, Miss K. Anderson 99-32-67, Mrs J. M. Mcßae 85-15-70, Mrs H. A. Vezey 87-16-71, Mrs L. J. Watt 96-22-74, Miss M. Madden 100-26-74.

NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. MURRAY WINS PROFESSIONAL. WELLINGTON, November 16.. Golf of a high standard delighted large galleries at the second last day of the New Zealand championships, at Miramar to-day. Alex (Murray (Titirangi) played two sterling rounds to win the professional championship, beating T, 'S. Galloway (Rotorua) by the convincing margin of 8 and 6. J. P. Hornabrook (Masterton), this year’s open champion, finished 2 and 1 against R. F. Kitto (Seafield) after being 1 down at the end of the morning round. In (the other amateur semifinal A. R. Kitto (Seafield) beat B. M Silk (Wanganui) 1 up. Silk was one up after the first eighteen holes; but over the final round his putting vvvs not up to his usual standard, which really accounted for his defeat.

The weather could not have been better for good scoring. There was little wind, and general conditions were sultry especially in the late afternoon.

A. Eva Guy, the Poverty Bay professional, hit the longest ball in the competition at the end of the day’s play. With a slight, side wind he drove 286yds Ift 4in. A. H. Boyd returned the best aggregate, with two drives of 283yds 6in and 271yds 4in. R. B. Carr, of Titirangi, was next with 278yds 9in and 272yds lOin. The final of the amateur championship will be played to-morrow over 36 holes between Hornabrook and A. Kitto. The weather promises to he fine, with a freshening northerly breeze.
