MAYOR FATALLY SHOT.
BODYGUARD BADLY WOUNDED. AMERICAN POLITICAL CRIME. (United Press Association —Copyrights (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) NEW YORK,' November 15. As the aftermath of a political dispute Alvin Dooley, a patrolman, fatally shot Louis Edwards, Mayor of Longbeach and critically wounded the Mayor’s bodyguard, James ’Walsh. Dooley was standing in front of Edwards’s home this morning when the Mayor and' his bodyguard emerged. “Hello Al,” said the Mayor. Dooley, without speaking, drew a revolver and fired once, felling Edwards. Then he pumped two more bullets into Edwards’ body. * Walsh attempted to draw his gun, but two more bullets felled him. Dooley walked calmly to the station house and surrendered. Edwards died in the hospital. Physicians are giving blood transfusions to Walsh. A crowd gathered at the station house, threatening violence against Dooley.
