“WET” CANTEENS.

INFORMAL CONFERENCE. (Per Press Association). AVELLINGTON, September 30. Representatives of various social organisations, including the A T oung Women’s Christian Temperance Union, the Young AA’omon’s Christian Temperance Association, the New Zealand Alliance, the Salvation Army, and of the churches, as well as staff officers of the three services conferred informally with the Cabinet today on the question of establishing “wet” or “dry” canteens. In many cases the views expressed were personal and did not commit the organisations interested. The question was discussed from all angles, no decision being reached, it being a matter entirely for the Government.
