DAY OF PRAYER.
OBSERVANCE IN ASHBURTON. The Dominion-wide, day of prayer was observed in Ashburton yesterday, when prayers for peace were offered at all the churches. Ministers made reference to the’ international situation. Three services were held at the St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, special reference being made by the Rev. J. F. Feron to the, present conditions. At the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church a special order of service, arranged by the Church Worship Committee, was followed. The Rev. A. Mcßean conducted a special service at the' Baring Square Methodist Church at 8 o’clock last evening. There was a very large attendance. The day of prayer was fully observed by the Baptist Church, the Rev. L. P. Bryan giving appropriate messages. There' were excellent attendances at the Tinwald, Flemington and Lagmhor Presbyterian Churches, where the order of service arranged by the GenQtral Assembly was followed.
