MEN TO LEAVE THIS WEEK. FIRST SECTION FROM ASHBURTON SPECIAL TRAIN TO-MORROW. Three groups of men who enlisted in the special force will leave Ashburton this week, forming the County and Borough quota of the main body. Eleven men will leave by a special train which will go through Ashburton at 5 o’clock to-morrow afternoon. Of these, five will go to Burnham and six will go through to Wellington. Two more will leave by the express train on Wednesday afternoon, these also going to Wellington. The main section, comprising 42 men for Burnham, will leave by a second special train which is due at Ashburton about 5 o’clock on Thursday afternoon. This batch will parade at the Drill Shed and will march to the railway station, headed by the Ashburton Silver and Salvation Army Bands. RECRUITING IN ASHBURTON. COUNTY TOTAL HAS REACHED 144. Recruiting in Ashburton continues steadily, if not briskly, and the latest enrolments bring the total enlistments for the County to 144, ten of whom enlisted at places outside this district.
