The Ministry of Labour and National Service, in an announcement, says that the King has made a proclamation directing that, with certain exceptions, all male British subjects within Great Britain who have, attained the age of 20 but are not 22, were liable to be called up for service with the armed forces, registering on dates to bo announced later. It is anticipated that the number in the 20-21 age group, plus those reaching 20 after June 3, will be about 250,000. The provisional registration date is October 21, and the calling-up date some time in November. Provision is made for postponement of liability ■ for service in the case of exceptional hardship. Eight thousand of the militiamen will bo taken in the Navy, and 14,000 in the Air' Force. Those not liable are persons not ordinarily resident in Britain who, under the provisions of any Act in the Dominions, are citizens thereof or were born and domiciled in the Dominions, British protectorates or mandated protectorates. Cadets, ministers of religion, lunatics and blind persons are also exempt from registration.
