BEAUTIFULLY FINE WEEJC-END. The warmest day. since last April Avas enjoyed in Ashburton yesterday, the temperature rising to a maximum of 70 degrees. Bright sunshine_preA r ailed. and with only a light Avind, conditions Avere almost ideal. The temperature dropped to 42.4 degrees last night. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Saturday Avere 68.4 degrees and 46 degrees respectively. The barometer stodd at 30.28 inches this morning, compared Avith 30.4 inches yesterday. CONDITIONS IN SEPTEMBER. Except for one spell of Avintry Aveather, when, there. Avas a heavy fall of snoAV in the high levels of the County, conditions in Ashburton in September were, generally fine. The total rainfall Avas only 1.32 inches, compared Avith 3.87 inches in September, 1938. Although there Avere 14 frosts, none of these Avere. severe, the heaviest being six degrees. The most severe frost of the month, last year. Avas 9 degrees. Only 2 degrees of frost were registered in the last 13 days.
