MEETINGS OF WOMEN. FLOWER SHOW AT WAKANUI, The Wakanui Women’s Institute held its annual spring flower show in conjunction with the usual monthly meeting in the Alemorial Hall. Mrs C. Brand presided over a good attendance of members and friends. A demonstration on “Shampooing upholstery” was given by Miss Rao Robins (A.C.E. tutor). Mrs G. Clark gave a most interesting and instructive talk on “Spring flowers and how to arrange them for show purposes.” On behalf of the Institute, Mrs C. The annual flower show of the Done Women’s Institute was held recently. A fine display of flowers was staged. Aliss L. Harrison was judge. Airs C. Sargent was elected delegate to the half-yearly meeting of the council to be held in Ashburton. The hostesses were Airs AV. Harrison and Aliss E. Prendergast. ASHTON-WATERTON. The September meeting of the Ash-ton-Waterto.il' Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs Pearson. The motto was “Hear much but say little.”Presents were received for the Leper Appeal. Delegates were appointed for' the half-yearly meeting of the Federation Council to be held in Ashburton on October 13, , The Competitions resulted: —Bloom, 'Miss Wootten 1 and Miss P. Read 2. The monthly meeting of the Willow-by-Eiffelton Women’s Institute was Hold in tho Willowby Hall on Thursday afternoon. Mrs S. H. Lill presided. The meeting opened with the “Ode” and “Aspirations.” Votes of sympathy in bereavement with Mrs Read, Mrs Quinn, Misses Lill, Mrs and Miss Hayman were carried in silence. Mrs Turnbull reported on sick visiting. Mrs Noble and Mrs R. J. Chapman were appointed sick visitors for the ensuing month. Miss Valmai Do la Mare tendered her resignation and small farewell' gift 9 were presented to her and Mrs Prattley on the eve of their departure. Mrs F. H. Chapman read extracts from the English “Home and Country.” Institute calendars were on sale. It was announced that the next meeting would be held on Tuesday, October 31.
