WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
THE MOUNT SOMERS BRANCH. Mrs A. R, Beckley presided over the monthly meeting of the -Mount Somers Women’s Institute. The resignation of Miss G. Hood, who has left the district, was accepted with regret. It was decided to contribute toward the demonstrators’ expenses in connection with the Centennial Exhibition. It was decided to procure a parcel to the value of £2 from the Disabled Soldiers’ Association. A golden thread talk on the life of Edith Cavoll was read by Mrs L. Goodrich. Competitions were won by Mrs L. Wilson and Miss AT Ruddock. Results of the monthly competitions were:—Brass book-ends. Miss H. Wightman 1. Miss .T. Stevenson .2; plaque (pewter), Miss H. Wightman 1, Miss L Wightman 2; crochet cushion, Mrs L. Wilson 1, Mrs C. J. Johnstone 2; ladies’ woollen vest, Mrs A. R. Becklev 1, Mrs L. Wilson 2.
