“A MYSTERIOIUS ACCIDENT.”

''Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. A verdict that Peter lmlay Frederick Saunders, an accountant, aged 21, died of injuries to his skull and laceration of the brain in a motor-car that ran off Hayward’s Pahautanui Road and capsized on May 14, was returned by the Coroner (Mr W. Gilbertson). He described the accident as a mysterious thine-. “The driver probably dropped off to sleep. That is the only possible explanation of it,” said the Coroner. In evidence the driver, Sydney Archibald Wiren, said that the car belonged to a man named Shelly. Shelly was asleep in the back seat almost all the way from Wanganui, and deceased, who was in front with witness, dozed off also and would have been asleep at the time of the accident. Both this witness and Shelly said they had not stopped at any hotels and had no drink in the car or before leaving on the trip.
