MATERNITY BENEFITS.
MORE CONTRACTS ACCEPTED.

The licensees of 13 maternity hospitals in the Canterbury Health District have entered into contracts with the Minister of Health to provide hospital services in relation to maternity benefits. This is shown in a general list issued by the Director of Health (Dr. M. IT. Watt).
Up to June 9 five hospitals in the district, two of them in Christchurch, were available to patients under the maternity benefits scheme, hut since then eight more have become available. Five arc in Christchurch. There are also 33 obstetric nurses in the district who have agreed to provide nursing services. Accordingly most ol the maternity hospitals in Christchurch are now available lor patients under the Social Security Maternity Benefits Scheme.
The Arawa Hospital, Ashburton, is one of the acceptors ol the maternity benefits scheme.
