DRIVERS’ DISPUTE.
WORKERS’ REPLY TO STATE-

(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, July 4. Mr Andrew Parlane (president of the New Zealand Drivers’ Federation), replying to- Mr H. J. Knight (secretary of the New Zealand Hoad Transport Alliance), said that Mr Knight denies that officials of the Auckland Drivers’ Union came to Wellington to have the matters in dispute referred to a disputes committee, as the result of a previous agreement by the employers concerned.
“I did not claim it was by verbal arrangement between tMr T. O. Bishop Mr Kniglit and myself,” he said. “The arrangement was made per medium of the telephone, hut 1 look a careful note in my diary of all the. conversation, and a perusal of that, will show that •both gentlemen referred to a disputes committee as provided for in the award. ’ ’ “A telegram was sent by mo to the Auckland Drivers’ Union to this effect. and it was responsible for two representatives of the Auckland Union coming to Wellington.
