TRAP SHOOTING.
THE METHVEN GUN CLUB. The north-west wind which, in the early afternoon, proved somewhat troublesome to shooters, fell away later and shooting conditions became almost perfect for the monthly shoot of the Methven Gun Club on Saturday. Thirteen shooters faced the traps and there was a number of interested spectators. The shooting was of a high standard for the series of matches, which concluded with a first-miss-out, and * shoots-pff were necessary in two cases where trophies were involved. In a six-bird sweepstake the following broke the possible and divided the stake: L. C. Anderson, T. S. Harrison, G. A. Franke, IS. H. Anderson, R. L. Haskett, T. Middleton, H. Cromie and J. Rouse.
The president’s trophy aggregate, a 14-clay-bird aggregate with an added sweepstake, finished with G. A. Franks and S'. H. Anderson breaking the possible. L. C. Anderson, T. S. Harrison, W. M. Holland, J. T. Corbitt, R. L. Haskett, T. Middleton and H. Cromie broke 13 birds, A. McLeod 12, F. Quested 11 and H. Stephens 10. Franks and S. H. Anderson took first and 2nd monecl, and those with 12 on divided third in the stake.
In a nine-clay-bird trophy match for trophies, A. McLeod, L. C. Anderson, T. S. Harrison, S. H. Anderson, T. Middleton, and H. Cromie broke the full quota. In the shoot-off L. C. Anderson took the Ward trophy, and H. Cromie the Holliday trophy. McLeod, Harrison, S. H. Anderson and Middleton divided the sweepstake. Holland, Corbitt and Haskett broke eight clays, and Quested, Rouse, and Stephens seven.
In a nine-clay-bird match for trophies presented by Mr W. J. Halliday, L. C. Anderson, J. T. Corbitt, G. A. Franks, F., Quested, R. L. Haskett and H. Cromie broke the possible. In the shoot-off Corbitt won on the sixth round, while Haskett and Cromie, who were tieing one down, shot off for the second trophy, Cromie losing to'Haskett on the third round. Cromie, L. C. Anderson, Franks and Quested divided the sweepstake. ,
The final match Was a first-miss-out sweepstake, the winner being J. T. Corbitt, with L. C. Anderson and 11. Cromie dividing second money.
