THE WEATHER.
BLEAK CONDITIONS TO-DAY.
Bitterly cold weather was experienced in Ashburton to-day, and some heavy showers of rain fell this morning. At mid-day the sky was grey and further rain was threatened.
Ruin fell in the night and up to nine o’clock this morning 12 points had been recorded. The maximum temperature yesterday was 40.01 degrees and the minimum last night .was 37.70 degrees. The barometer stood at 29.13 inches this morning.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— With the passage of the depression pressure has risen rapidly in the north, but more slowly in the south. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oarnaru is as follows : Moderate to strong southerly winds. Weather cold and changeable, with passing showers and possibly hail 6r snow; some hard frosts. Seas becoming rough.
