FINE CONDITIONS TO-DAY. After a frost of 3.5 degrees this morning, the fine weather that has been experienced here for the past few weeks, was continued. The air was chilly all morning, hut bright sunshine prevailed and conditions became warmer this afternoon. The maximum 'temperature yesterday was 57.3 degrees, while th,e minimum inside temperature last night was 35.2 degrees. The barometer stood at 30.24 inches this morning. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General situation: The anticyclone covering New Zealand is now very intense and thei centre is moving eastward off the North Island. A shallow depression is advancing across the Tasman. The forecast tor the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Uamaru is as follows: —

Light to moderate northerly to north-westerly winds, becoming strong at times, especially inland. Scattered rains developing in the Alps. Elsewhere weather fair and mild. Seas moderate.
