ASHBURTON TROTTING CLUB THE MEETING. AT ADDINGTON. ' ! The entries for the New Zealand Sapling Stakes, 1940, the Champion Stakes, 1940, and the Futurity Stakes, 1941, which closed recently and totalled 364, constituted a record for the Club, stated the secretary of the Ashburton Trotting Club (Mr J. R. Nicoll) last evening. The number of entries last year was 295. Mr H. F. Nicoll presided at the meeting. Arrangements made in connection with the Club’s meeting to be held at Addington on April 1 were confirmed The first race has been timed to start at 12.8 p.m. The Ashburton Silver Band has been engaged, and arrangements are being made with the Broadcasting Board to broadcast a running description of each event.
