CORONATION OF THE POPE.
SCENES OF ENTHUSIASM. TICKET-HOLDERS NUMBER 50,000. (United Press Association —Copyright.) VATICAN CITY, March 12. jßemarkable scenes of enthusiasm were seen on the occasion of the coronation of Pope Pius XII. Ten thousand Italian troopers patrolled the streets leading to St. Per ter’s Square before dawn, and prevented those not holding tickets from entering the square beforo the 50,000 ticket-holder's.- The tickets inscribed "gratis” were selling at £lO. The coronation -began at 7.15 a.m. The Pope was escorted to the vestment hall, where he was greeted by the College of Cardinals, and donned his vestments, comprising a stole, a short red and gold mantle, and a mitre. Signor Mussolini did not attend the coronation, at which the Italian Government was represented toy Count Ciano. Herr Hitler was represented toy the German Ambassador to the Vatican (Dr.. von Bergen).
