BAND CONTEST.
NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS.
FURTHER, ARRANGEMENTS MADE
Dates for the hymn test and the quick-step contest in connection with the forthcoming New Zealand Band, Championships, which will be held in Christchurch in February, have been definitely fixed, according to ,advice received by the secretary of the Askhurton Silver Band committee (Mi' At C. Wilson) this morning. The hymn test will be-held at the Christchurch Showgrounds on Sunday afternoon, February. 19, while; the quick-step competition will take place oii the following Saturday afternoon, February 25. It will be the first time the hymn contest has been held on a Sundav.
The time and places of the A and B grade solo contests have 1 not yet been fixed, hut will be conducted between February 19 and 25.
It is proposed that the combined hands render two hymns at the close of the hymn test on the Sunday afternoon,. under the conduetorship of the chief judge, Captain H. Shugg. The hymns chosen are “Lead Kindly Light” and “Nearer My God to Thee.”
