FIFTY YEARS SYNE. (From the “Guardian” Dee. 2, 1888) Oil Paintings of Sheep—There were on view at ’Messes Fried lander Bros.' office on Saturday afternoon two oil paintings from the brush of Mr G. I"’. Fodor, the well-known animal painter. The paintings were of two representative sheep from Air Alax Friiedlander’s Hampshire Down flock, and Air Fodor showed by his work that his reputation as an artist is well merited. Tne sheep that have been honoured are phenomenal specimens. One, the champion ram scales a little over 4001bs live weight, while the other, a ewe hogget, 14 months old, would kill at from Lsslbs to 1601 bs. Air Fodor has, we understand, secured several orders from owners of stock in the district to execute paintings of their prize animals, The Earl of Seafield —His Lordship Francis William-Ogilvife Grant, tenth Earl of Seafield, died at his residence at Oamaru aliout noon to-day, of heart disease at the early age of 41 years.
