ENGLISH CHAMPION. VISIT TO THE DOMINION. The English singles bowling champion K. I. Cross, and his father, C. P. Cross, will leave Sydney for Wellington at the end of this month. They will remain in the Dominion till March. Cross’s play in the final for the English championship was described by the bowling correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph and Morning Post” as brilliant. He defeated H. Cook, Tynemouth. “Cross owed his success to a brilliant spell after the fifteenth end, when lie was three shots behind,” stated the writer. ‘ ‘Cook had led at five ends, 13-10. Then came Cross’s rally'. He scored on seven successive ends to capture the lead at 22 ends of 19-13. A ‘2 by Cook carried him to within four shots, but Cross replied at the 24th end with a 2 for victory.” Cross, whose ago is only 27, played as a member of the Cosham Club. Nearly 5000 men bad entered for the championship. C. P. Cross and K. I. Cross won the pairs at the Eastbourne tournament this year, the father playing as skip. They won the final in exciting fashion. With three ends to go they were (i down, but with one end to play they were only 2 down. They scored a 4 and won the game. The entry in this event was 640.

C. P. Cross has not attained such eminence as his son on the green, but is senior vice-president of the Hampshire Bowling Association, and a prominent citizen of Portsmouth, their home.
