FRUIT AND PRODUCE.

THE ASHBURTON MARKET. There were few changes in the prices of commodities at the Ashburton fruit and produce market .yesterday. Prices were as follows: Walnuts—Bd to 9d lb. Cauliflowers — lOd to Is. Carrots, now—.'ld bunch. Cabbages—New season’s. 4d to Gd. Stunner Apples—7s Gd to 8s Gd. Chaff—2s Gd to 3s a sack. Potatoes—ls Gd to 2s a sugar-bag or 6s to 6s a sack. Wheat—2os to 21s a sack. PRODUCERS’ BOARD’S REPORT. WELLINGTON, November 25. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board’s report on the Smithfield market covering the period ended November 24 states that the lamb’market is steady with a little better demand, owing to the easing down of home-killed. Trade in wethers and ewes continues dull and prices ,where changed, are slightly easier. Frozen beef is stead and unchanged. Chilled beef is firm, with good trade.

In New Zealand porker pigs, lightweights are a shade firmer, owing to shortage of supplies, and others unchanged. New Zealand baconer pigs show an easier tendency, owing to low prices for Continental bacon. The boneless bobby veal trade continues slow. Quotations are:— Mutton. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. THE DUNEDTN MARKET. DUNEDIN, November 25. Wheat crops are looking well and good yields are practically assured. Recent rains in Otago are considered to have been the best for the last 18 months. Rain was badly needed as the subsoil had not had a good soaking foi a long time. The oat market continues quiet. The only demand at present is for Duns, and these are now practically unprocurable. Gartons, although not in heavy supply, are in sufficient quantity to meet requirements. The demand for chaff continues on the small side. The business going through is confined to small lots ex stores, the value being £0 10s a

ton, sacks extra. The local market is still securing most of its lines from Canterbury, but it is difficult to secure good quality. The market for old potatoes is drawing to a close.
