WORLD’S WARSHIPS.
DEMOCRACIES’ GREAT TONNAGE. (United Press Association —Copyright.) WASHINGTON, November 25. Naval intelligence officers have completed tables showing that the world powers, Japan excluded, are building 1,821,000 tons of warships. The powers already possess, including Japan 1936 figures, 6,700,000 tons, of which Britain has 2,133,000 and the United States 1,618,000. Adding France this gives the democracies a total of 4,545,000, compared with 1,253,000 for Italy and Germany which is a three to one advantage, or with Japan’s 808,000 included, gives a two to one advantage for the democracies.
