WOMEN’S INSTITUTES.
THE WAKAHUI MEETING. The Wakanui Institute held its monthly meeting in the Memorial Hall, when Mrs C. Brand presided over a good attendance. The balance-sheet was adopted. Arrangements were made for its Christmas party to be, held at Mrs M. Kingsbury’s residence* on Saturday, December 17. Mrs T. A. I). Wilson was presented with a baby plate for her little son. Members were invited to a group meeting at Fairton on December 8. Mrs McEachen demonstrated the making of floral sprays, and Mrs Thompson showed many Christmas novelties. The hostesses were Mesdames D. Buttericki and A. Donk. Mrs .Tames Moore gave an elocutionary item. Competitions resulted as follows: — Premier bloom, Mis I'Yampton and Miss E. I’rotlioroo (equal) 1, Mrs A. Donk 2, Mesdames Moore and Load-ley (equal) 11. Juniors —-Bloom, Miss C. Frampton 1, Miss Dalton 2, Miss E. Eden A; pewter work, Miss Prof home 1.
