WHEEL COLLAPSES IN TAKE-OFF

Wtyen one of the Baffin bombeirs belonging to the Wellington Territorial Air Force squadron which is encamped at the Blenheim Aerodrome was taxiing slowly out on to the flyiߣC fiold this morning, preparatory to takingoff for machine-gun practice at Lake Grassmere, one of the landing wheels collapsed. The big ’plane tipped forward, Smashing the propeller and one of the lowler wings. Pilot-Officer Smith, who was at the controls, was not injured. . . 1 Examination disclosed faults in the metal disc wheel. Repairs will be effected at Blenheim after spare parts have been received from the Hobsonville Base.
