NEWCASTLE STRIKE OUTCOME. ABOUT 1500 MEN IDLE. TROUBLE AT BIG IRONWORKS. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, November 5.
A strike of 70 workers in the pickling department of Lysaght’s Ironworks, Newcastle, has led to the closing of the mills indefinitely from to-day. About 1500 men are rendered idle. The pickling strike arose out of a claim by the men that the principle of seniority should have been observed when men were put oil’.
