GLASS WORKS DISPUTE. A TEMPORARY AGREEMENT. PENDING ISSUE OF AN AWARD. AUCKLAND, This Day. After hearing tho report of a long conference, held under Chairmanship of Mr W. Slaughter, officer in charge of the Department of Labour, the 150 men involved in the glass workers’ dispute at Penrose returned to work to-day. The agreement is only temporary, to give the Arbitration Court time to issue an award. The terms of the temporary agreement include an annual holiday of a week for workers on weekly wages, and an increase in wages to certain sections of the hands and youths. Representatives of the Federation of Labour who attended the Conference promised to use their influence to obtain early consideration of the award by the Arbitration Court.
