CLASH WITH POLICE AT BEIRUT. RIOTERS STOP A FUNERAL. COFFIN BURNED ON ROADSIDE.
(United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) JERUSALEM. November 2. Troops searching a village north of Ramallali surprised a gang, five members of which were killed and two wounded. A Beirut message states that 15 Arabs were injured and 40 arrested in a clash with demonstrating against the partition of Palestine. A General strike is advocated through Syria. Rioters stopped a funeral and burned the coffin on the roadside.
