YOUTH’S INJURIES FATAL. NECK BROKEN IN A DIVE. (Per Press Association.) WHAKATANE, This Day. George Wallace, aged 17, of Tauranga, who dislocated liis neck while diving into shallow water at the Awakai hot springs bathing pool on Sunday, has died. CHILD KILLED BY SHAFTING. ROTORUA, October 31. Alexander Alfred Bannan, aged four, the son of Mr and Mrs Alfred J. Bannan, who are sharemilking on a property at Guthrie settlement, was killed this morning. The hoy was seen playing near the cowshed ab0ut.9.30 o’clock. He wandered into the basement containing machinery driving the water pump for .milking. Apparently his clothing was caught up by tho shafting. His body was discovered later still caught up iA'the shafting. The machinery in the meantime had been stopped when milking ceased.
