HALLOWE’EN.
SCOTTISH SOCIETY CELEBRATES The Ashburton County Scottish Society celebrated Hallowe’ien in the Orange Hall last evening. There was a layge attendance, especially oi children, and a good programme was presented for the bairns. Candlelight, ringing bottles, egg and spoon races, and a Monte Carlo dance were bold and good prizes 'were provided for the winners. All children received a good supply of ice-cream, lollies, apples, and a bountiful supper. Tbo Pipe Band was in attendance. A box of heather from Scotland was distributed. After supper a dance was held, music being supplied by Mrs Mitchell's orchestra. Mr T. McGregor and Mr G. Chilton were Masters of Ceremonies.
