ELECTION OF OFFICERS. SERVICE IN SUNDAY SCHOOLS (Per Press Association.) WELLINTGON, October 31.

The election of officers for the ensuing year was the principal business conducted at to-day’s sessions of the New Zealand Baptist Union. The elections resulted:— President-elect, the Rev. M. W. A • Lascelles, of Wellington; Union Council, the Revs. J. Laird (Mount Albert), r/l. Fursdon (Dunedin), E. W. Batts (Gisborne), L. J. B. Smith ("Wellington), A. L. Silcock (Island Bay), E. Nicholls (Wanganui), J. K. Archer (Christchurch)*, P. L. A. Crampton (Auckland), and Messrs E. McGregor (Morrinsville), J. R. Carey, E. Noes, D. P. Power, C. Collins (Wellington), J. j. Purdie (Dunedin), W. A. Kendon and H. Dearsley (Auckland); Union preacher, the Rev. J. D. Jensen (Auckland). An estimated expenditure of £2535 is allowed for in the Baptist Union budget, which was adopted. The following long-service diplomas, recognising lopg terms of service in Sunday school work, were presented by the president, Mr F. W. Horner :* — Mrs H. A. Bade, Berhampore, Wellington, 40 years; Miss Margaret Arthur, St. Albans, Christchurch, 26 years; Mrs M. M. Turner, Mount Albert, Auckland 1 , 25 years; Mr Phil Turner, White Swan, Auckland, 25 years; Mrs T. F. Turner, formerly of Mount Albert, now of Karori, Wellington, 25 years.
