A suggestion of the State lottery to raise money to further the work of the National Council of Physical Welfare and Recreation, particularly in,the direction of providing sports amenities such as plavi.ng fields and swimrhing baths, was made at the annual meeting of- the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre last evening, and was supported by all but two or three delegates. It was decided to approach kindred sports bodies with the object of forming a deputation to the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) and asking him to place the proposal before the Government.
