ARAB SABOTAGE

ALLEGED GERMAN INSTRUCTORS TECHNICIANS IN RANKS. BRITISH TROOPS OCCUPY GAZA. (United Press Association—Copyright.), LONDON, October 31. The Jerusalem correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says that the Arabs have revealed that German technicians, attached to the rebel ranks, are instructing them in the use of land mines and methods of road and rail sabotage. it is believed that Arabs who assisted, Lawrence of Arabia in-similar activities have joined the, rebels. German assistance,. after the arrival from Berlin of a notorious propagandist, Emir Chekib. The Gaza correspondent of the “News-Chronicle” says that 18 search parties of the Coldstream Guards and the Northumberland Fusiliers in the town, which the troops had earliei; occupied, combed the houses. They searched 8000 men, and compelled the women to show their hands to prove that they were not men masquerading in women’s clothing. The troops used a new automatic finder for firearms, consisting of a divining rod with a frame aerial to which an electro-magnetic apparatus is attached. The apparatus emits a howl when metal is detected. Unfortunately it detects any metal, and consequently floors were torn up to disclose only tincans. Several revolvers, ammunition, and old Turkish shells, relics of AHenby’s campaign, were discovered.

REBEL THREAT OF REPRISALS. DAWN CURFEW AT JAFFA.

Despite British troops guarding the Post Office, Law Courts and Police Station rebels placarded at the Post Office a proclamation warning British residents that the “savage murders the British Army is committing against peaceful Arabs will meet with reprisals on British officials and civilians. “You ignited a fire and must bear the consequences.” The authorities have imposed a dawn curfew. This is believed to be preliminary to a British clean-up, re-asserting authority in the rebel-infested city, where murder, arson, theft, intimidation and racketeering are rife.
