HUGE LIQUOR BILL.
MORE THAN £875,000,00. UNITED STATES EXPENDITURE. NEW YORK, October 17. The United 'States liquor bill in 1937 was more than £875,000,000. This represents an annual expenditure of approximately £7 5s for each citizen. The year’s consumption of liquor was 1,900,000,000 gallons. That is equivalent to almost 16 gallons a head of population.
