ASHBURTON LADIES’ CLUB. A stroke match played by members of the Ashburton Ladies’ Golf Chib yesterday was won by Mrs F. V. Piper. The best scores were :—Mrs Piper 93, 21—72 ; Mrs H. A. Vezey 91, 17—74; Mrs Brophy 105, 30—75. The ladies will play an all day aggregate score match next Tuesday, players to choose their own partners. Ladies are requested to take a basket. YOUNG WOMAN CHAMPION. WELLINGTON, October 27. A new woman, golfer came into the front rank to-day when Patsy Bell, a 20-year-old Wanganui player, won the Wellington women’s provincial championship by defeating Mrs D. A. Crombie (Wellington), 2 and 1, in-the semifinal, and going on in the afternoon, in heavy,rain, to take the championship by defeating Miss Valmai Fleming (Christchurch), 4 and 2, in the final.
