GIRLS’ BANQUET.
TINWALD FRIENDLY SOCIETY. To mark the close of the year the Tinwald Girls’ Friendly Society held a. very enjoyable banquet in the Parish Hall last evening, those present including members of the Mothers’ Union, Ladies’ Guild, Sunday School teachers and representatives from the Hinds and Alayfield Girls’ Friendly Societies. The leader (Airs H. Childs) who welcomed the guests was presented with a beautiful bouquet. Aliss Al. Hickman won the prize for most points in the weekly competitions. The toast list was as follows: —“The King,” ; “The Girls’ Friendly Society,” proposed by Aliss F. Gudsell and responded to by Airs Moffat; “Our Branch,” Airs G. Clark —Aliss AI. Hickman.; “Sister Branches,” Aliss H. Sewell —Aliss AV. Lowe (Hinds); “Associates,” Aliss N. Clark —Airs Souter; “Our Leader,” Aliss Af. Bushel!—Airs Childs; “Kindred Organisations,” Aliss N. Houston —Airs Sewell.
Items were given as follows: — Pianoforte duet, Misses P. and N. Clark; dance, Miss H. Bell; pianoforte solo, Miss P. Clark; solos, Alisses AI. Jennings and F. Gudsell. Dancing brought a. pleasant evening to a close, music being supplied by Aliss P. Clark.
