ST. JAMES THEATRE. A thunderstorm starts off the outlandish goings-on in' “Midnight Intruder,” the film opening at the St. James Theatre this evening, wherein the destiny of a penniless adventurer is turned inside out, and in a rapid succession he becomes an impostor, a detective, a lover and a writer. In this rollicking Universal comedy-mys-tery Louis Hayward, as a well-bred vagabond, breaks into a mansion to evade a storm. His hiding-place is discovered by servants and the fun begins when the butler says to him, “Welcome home, sir.” Hayward poses as the mansion owner’s son, and gets away with it —until he meets the wife of the man he is impersonating! He falls in love with Barbara Read, but complications arise when he suspects her father of being a murderer. Resides Hayward and Miss Read, the cast includes ,1. C. Nugent, Robert G'reig, Eric Linden and Sheila Bromley. This film will bo shown at two sessions to-morrow, together with “Love on A Budget,” featuring the popular Jones family. TENNIS DANCE AT MT. SOMERS. For the purpose of raising funds for re-laying new tennis courts, the Mount Somers Lawn Tennis Chib held a successful dance in the Memorial Hall on Monday evening. Music was played by Mrs L. M. Goodrich, Mrs L. F. Wood and Miss T. Morgan, and •Mr L. Bansgrove. Mr E. Pratt was Master of Ceremonies. Trophies won during the past season .were presented by the president (Mr J. A. Mears), as follows: —Mrs L. F. Wood, Mr A. R. Beckley ; junior boys, Andrew Kerr; junior girls, Miss Joan Turton.
