AIR RAID REFUGEES.
LONELY ISLANDS IN DEMAND. Lonely islands—the lonelier the bettor—are in great demand in England, says a London correspondent. They are wanted as refuges from air-raids and estate agents cannot find enough to go round. “AVe have a few on our books, but they will soon be disposed of,” said an official in one of the largest agent’s offices in London. “There are quitefa number of attractive islands of the west coast of Scotland and the southwest coast of Ireland, but many of them have already been sold. AAe only wish we could get hold of more of them.” The prices range from £IOOO to many thousands for the larger properties. “In these days of aeroplanes, cars, and motor cruisers, the island has definitely come into its own,” said another prominent estate agent. “The air-raid fear is undoubtedly a big incentive.”
