FIRE AMONG FLAX.
VERDICT FOR PLAINTIFFS. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Alay 30 ; A verdict for the plaintiffs for £750 was returned by the jury in the Supreme Court to-day in the case in which, the AVollington Flax Company sued Sir Kenneth. Douglas for £SOOO damages. The action arose frem a tare which destroyed a large area of flax at Alangaroa in November, the plaintiffs alleging that Sir Kenneth Douglas, who owns an adjoining property, was responsible for the fire. The defence was a, complete denial.
The hearing began on Tuesday last. The jury was out for three hours and a quarter.
The defendant was granted leave to move within 14 days for a new trial.
