Preliminary election returns indicate that 80 per cent, of the German votes has been cast for Herr Henlein. Gablonz, the largest Sudeten German community in the country, returned 34 members of the Henlein Party out of 42 seats. OFFER TO THE SUDETEN®. VARIOUS PRIVILEGES OUTLINED. PARIS, May 30. Tho French press is very satisfied at the calm in Czechoslovakia. Prominence is given to a report by the Czech Minister (M. Osusky), who has given the Foreign Minister (M. Georges Bonnet) a complete outline of the Czech Government’s plan for a settlement of the minority problem. He declared that the Government would go as far as possible without abandoning to the minorities any control over foreign or military affairs. It is believed three main points are an offer to the Germans of the use of their own language 'in all fields as if in their own State, financial control of the school system in their districts, control, where Germans predominate, of the municipal councils, and an exact proportion in appointments to civil service posts.
