FIFTY ARRESTS.
GAMING CHARGES AT AUCKLAND (Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, May 29. Fifty men were arrested alter a police raid on premises in the city on Saturday night. The men were later charged before a Justice of the Peace with gaining offences and wore remanded on bail to appear in the Magistrate’s Court to-morrow. Bail was fixed at LIOO in the ease of Clarence William Russell, a labourer, who was charged with being the occupier of the premises, and vvitli using them as a common gaming-house. Walter Charles Ahsolmn, a slaughterman, and Bert Thomas, a labourer, who were both charged With assisting in the management of a common gaminghouse, wore remanded on similar hail. In the ease of the others, hail was fixed 1 at varying amounts of £3 and £3.
