KENNEDY AND BLOMFIELD. POLICE STOP THE BOUT. AUCKLAND, May 22. A professional wrestling match at the Town Hall on Saturday night, between Lofty Blomfield, ol Auckland, and Jack Kennedy, of America, was stopped in the final round: by Inspeetoi Scott, of the Auckland police. This round commenced with exchanges o forearm jolts and flying tackles. Kennedy was then warned by the re!- t eree for punching, anu again for kicking his opponent in the abdomen. In spite of these warnings the visitor lifted his knee into Blomfield’s face, and it was then that Inspector Scott rose from his seat at the ringside, went up to the ropes, and demanded that the referee stop the contest. Blomfield had gained a fall immediately after the match started. YQURiST AND MEEHAN draw, GISBORNE, This Day. with a body press. His opponent did not equalise till the seventh, when Meehan went down to repeated jolts, headlocks and shoulder charges. The match lacked science, hut furnished plenty of excitement.
