OBITUARY.

MR H. A. BODDINGTON, BANKER AND SPORTSMAN. A familiar figure in the world of sport and business, Mr Henry Albert Boddington, died at Christchurch on Tuesday at the age of 75. As a golfer and cricketer .Air Boddington was particularly well known, and he also made many friends during 40 years in the employ of the Bank of New South AVales. Born in Kaiapoi and educated at Nelson College, Air Boddington entered the Government service, which he left to join the bank. He managed the branches at Naseby, Amberley and Ashburton (from 1916 to 1925), working also on the AYcst Coast, whore he was closely identified with gold-mining, as an assayer and buyer for the bank. Air Boddington was a member of Christchurch Golf Club for many years, and he represented Otago at cricket, playing in one of the earliest matches against Canterbury. In Ashburton he was a, prominent member of the Golf Club and played in the Ashburton Cricket Club’s senior team.

On leaving Ashburton, Mr Boddington retired from the bank and had since lived in Christchurch.

Airs Boddington, daughter of Air Douglas Rutherford, “The Scuts,” Jedburgh, Scotland, died two years ago. The members of the family are Airs Kenneth Sare (Aliddlemarch), Airs G. Bowron (Christchurch), Miss Fay Boddington (Christchurch), Air Albert Boddington (Auckland), Al(r Stanley Boddington (Christchurch) and Air William Boddington (Melbourne).
