The first day of the Pahiatua Racing Club’s meeting was held to-dav in brilliant sunshine. The course was in good order after recent rain. The attendance was also good. The totalisutor put through £9228 10s, against £8920 10s for the last corresponding day, an increase of £3OB. Results were:—

Pahiatua Cup, of £170; one mile and a quarter.—l Master Cyklon, 8.13 (Morris) 1, 3 Lucullus Lad, 9.0 2. 0 Helen Ford, 7.13 3. Won by a length ; a head between second and third. Time 2.10 4-o.

Nursery Handicap, of £100; five furlongs.—4 Twenty Grand, 7.7 (Wilson) 1, 3 Brazil, 7.9 2,2 Jeanne, 8.4 3. Won by half a length; a neck between second and third. Time, 1.3 1-5. Hainua Hack Handicap, of £100; one mile and 110 yards.—2 Naughty Marietta, 7.13 (Edwards) 1, 4 Seyfried, 7.10 2, 1 Maestro, 9.0 3. Won by three-quarters of a length; a short head between second and third. Time, 1.49 1-5. ,

Makuri Hack Handicap, of £100; six furlongs and 55 yards.—l Ruling Spy, 8.3 (Williams) 1, 4 .Joe Louis, 7.12 2, 6 Jewish Lad, 7.5 3. Won by half a length; two lengths between second and third. Time, 1.18 4-5. Eketahuna Handicap, of £.110; seven furlongs.—3 Passion Fruit, 7.5 (Marsh) 1, 3 Kahikatoa, 7.5 2, 1 Pakanui, 9.7 3. Won by a length and a half; two lengths between second and third. Time, 1.28 2-5.
