INTOXICATED IN CARS.
MAN FINED AND DELICENSED.
STOPPED TO OFFER AID. (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON'N., January 24. When Maurice Paul aged 46, a farmer, appeared before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., charged with intoxication while driving a car, SeniorSergeant Mclntyre revealed unusual circumstances in the case. He said that two Highways Board traffic inspectors were assisting a motorist to mend a tyre when the accused arrived and inquired if they were all right. He was informed that they were, but continued to call out insistently. This aroused the suspicion of the inspectors about his sobriety. One conversed with him, and formed the opinion that the accused was intoxicated. Two doctors later certified him as unfit to drive. The Magistrate cancelled Nottingham’s licence for 12 months and fined him £ls.
