FAST SCORING.
FIFTY RUNS IN TWO OVERS. H. JORDAN’S HARD HITTING. One of the brightest knocks in Ashburton County senior cricket for some time was seen on Saturday, when in two overs H. Jordan knocked up 50 runs, leaving with his wicket intact when the runs necessary to give Kia Ora a four point win against Technical and the lead in the senior competition were obtained.
Jordan went out to the wicket partnered by S. W. Kerr. While he made his 50 in eleven strokes Kerr scored one run. Jordan hit a boundary with all his scoring strokes except one, his tally including four sixes and six fours. The light was beginning to fail at the time, so he went vigorously ahead to get the runs necessary for Kia Ora’s victory. With a score of 140 Jordan has the highest individual score of any individual batsman this season, and is second in the Ashburton County averages. Another remarkable feat in the competitions on Saturday was the performing of two hat tricks in one game, the junior match between Tinwalcl and Public Works Irrigation. The successful bowlers were R. Hulme (Tinwald), and S. Mowat (Public Works).
