CLERIC’S FAST.
TO PROVE IMMORTALITY.
SUSPENSION BY THE DEAN
(United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day-, 9.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, January 21.
A message from Memphis (Tennessee) states that the case of a cleric, who was personally attempting to-prove that man is immortal this side of the grave, took a different turn when Bishop Maxon, head of the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee, suspended Dean Israel Noe, of the Cathedral of St.' Mary)here, for fasting nineteen days. Dean Noe is weak and gaunt after his long abstention, his only nourishment having been wine at the Communion. He continued bis offices throughout the fast, but lost nearly 7st in weight. He insisted throughout he was within reach of a perfect existence on a spiritual plane of life. The bishop’s suspension declared that Dean Noe’s manner of living and expression of religious convictions are foreign to the views of the great majority of the membership of the church.
