(United Press Association —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12.35 p.m.) LONDON, January 21. On his return to Ireland, Mr Eamon de Valera made the following statement on the talks in London: “Each side in the negotiations put forward its views and indicated its general attitude onj the jehiefi outstanding matters in dispute The approach of the two States to some of these questions is from diametrically opposite points. It will not be easy to find agreement. However, we are exploring the whole field during the next few weeks. There will be detailed examination of trade questions, and when the delegations meet- again they should be in a position to discover quickly wihether agreement is possible or not."

NEGOTIATIONS FOR AGREEMENT

(Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) . LONDON, January 20. Soon after Mr Eamon de Valera and his colleagues left this morning for Dublin, the Board of Trade and the Eire Government experts began detailed consideration of trade and agricultural problems, which, it is hoped, will result in a trade agreement between Britain and Eire. The negotiations are to be c.ontinued daily.
